AMP: Non-Indexable Canonical

back to issues overview

Non-Indexable Canonical

The AMP canonical URL is a non-indexable page.

The non-AMP equivalent set as the canonical URL of the AMP should be an indexable page.

How to Analyse in the SEO Spider

View URLs with this issue in the ‘AMP’ tab and ‘Non-Indexable Canonical’ filter, and export all URLs using the ‘Export’ button.

The ‘Canonical Link Element’ column shows the canonical URL which is non-indexable.

Read our tutorial on ‘How To Audit & Validate Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP)‘.

What Triggers This Issue

This issue is triggered when the canonical URL set for an AMP page points to a non-indexable version of the non-AMP equivalent.

For example:

https://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/amp/technical-seo/

Has the canonical link element:

<link rel="canonical" href="https://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/technical-seo/">

Which is blocked by robots.txt.

How To Fix

Update AMP canonical URLs so they correctly go to canonical and indexable non-AMP equivalents.
