Screaming Frog SEO Spider Is Now 1 Year Old
It’s a year ago today that we released the SEO spider, so we thought we should celebrate a little! Check out @matthopson‘s birthday cake skillz below –
The last 12-months have been fantastic, both in terms of development of the SEO spider but also our growth as a search marketing agency. The tool itself feels much older to us (probably because we had it in development and used it internally before releasing it publically), but it has come a long way in a fairly short period of time. We have had 8 new versions of the SEO spider in the last 12-months, each with new updates and features as well as releasing a Mac version.
The success of the tool would not of been possible without the support of the SEO community. We have been completely overawed with how it has been received and the feedback the SEO community has provided. I have been genuinely humbled by the continued support of many of those in the industry who have helped us develop it further. You guys rock.
We have even bigger plans for the tool (as well as other projects in the pipeline) for the following 12-months, so there is a lot more to come.
Now it’s time to eat some cake.
Heartfelt thanks to the Screaming Frog team. This tool rocks hard. Keep up the great work guys
Happy birthday! I would’ve sent a card but….
heheh, cheers guys :-)
Wow,
1) Congratulations on year 1!
2) I’m blown away, that this tool is ONLY a year old. You guys have done an amazing job in a pretty short time line. Well done!
This is a great tool every SEO should use first for site audit. You will be surprised to see how many errors you have on your / client’s sites. Great job and great service to SEO community,
I truly appreciate it.
Lewis
where were you when i was trialing the crap alexa spider!! This is just what I have been looking for!!
keep up the good work guys
Congrats and thank you very much for this great tool. I was used to using xenu, but your giving it a tough competition.
Спасибо за очень хорошую программу!
Hello, thanks for your tools. One suggestion, in case of checking redirection, it seems tha SeoScreamingFFrog doesn’t follow multiple redirection and doesn’t display the status code of the final uri.
For example page1 -> 301 -> page2 -> 301 -> page3, let say page3 response code is 500 or 404. ScreamingFrog doesn’t give us this information,…, so sad.
I wish I could have
Origin URI / #Number of redirection / RedirectionType (301, 302) / Final Response Code.
Thanks for your work.
Hey Francois,
The SEO spider does follow multiple redirects and display all relevant status codes along the path :-)
Each URI will be included separately within the SEO spider. If you just input one URI into the spider and hit crawl, it might not as our crawling follows a few rules (https://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/user-guide/general/#1) or indeed it could be due to another reason (https://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/faq/#7).
If you believe you have identified an issue, just drop us an e-mail (support[at]screamingfrog.co.uk) and I can take a look :-)
Cheers.
What if we want to follow 301s and 302s while operating in List mode? I use the Frog to check sites that I have asked to take down links and if the original URL is redirected I still have to manually check the new page.
Hi Jonah,
We have a ‘follow all redirects’ feature in our next release for just this scenario.
At the moment, you have to re-upload the 3XX responses and so on.
Cheers.
Thank you for the great tool and being responsive to the user demands.
Wish the team a Happy & Prosperous New Year 2014 with more features and exciting stuff.
